CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

23rd Jan 2021

Celebrating the Gift of Catholic Education

“A Catholic school is not just teaching secular subjects and then little bits and pieces of Church teaching. Our schools locate excellent teaching in the context of the experience of a world where we belong together.”  (Bishop Donal McKeown)

Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated from 24th-31st January 2021.

The theme this year is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith and Resilience

To launch Catholic Schools Week in the Diocese of Derry, Bishop Donal Mc Keown  celebrated Mass on Thursday 21st January at 10 am in St Eugene’s Cathedral, via the webcam. The mass can be viewed on the link below:

This year is the anniversary of the birth of Saint Columba/Colmcille, the Patron Saint of our diocese.

He was a man of great faith and resilience, who followed God’s plan for his life, by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ wherever he went.

Children in the diocese are asked to use the Oak Leaf Template provided to write a prayer for Catholic Schools Week and return it to the Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre, via email to ddcc@derrydiocese.org
